Search Tips

  • Basic searches will assume an AND between every word, like Google.
  • Use closed quotes (“…” ) to search a phrase, like Google.
  • Use OR in all caps to indicate that you require one of the words to appear, like Google.
  • Use NOT in all caps to indicate words you don’t want to appear, like Google.
  • Be aware that use of a wildcard may give inconsistent results.
  • Advanced searches are available for books and articles; click Advanced.
  • Comprehensive searches should be done in subject-specific databases and the Classic Catalog.
